Choose to Grow

Day 2

Choose to grow & learn from God’s word

2 Timothy 3:16 – 16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.

1 Peter 2:2-3 – 2 Like newborn babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation. Cry out for this nourishment, 3 now that you have had a taste of the Lord’s kindness.

2 Pet 3:18 – Rather, you must grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
All glory to him, both now and forever! Amen.

Hebrews 6:1-3 – 1 So let us stop going over the basic teachings about Christ again and again. Let us go on instead and become mature in our understanding. Surely we don’t need to start again with the fundamental importance of repenting from evil deeds and placing our faith in God. 2 You don’t need further instruction about baptisms, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment. 3 And so, God willing, we will move forward to further understanding.

What is God teaching me?
For me, growing sometimes is a choice I fail to make. The most dangerous time for my spiritual walk is when everything is cruising along ok – the ordinary. In a crisis I am seeking the Lord because I know that is my source of hope, but in the ordinary I can get plain old lazy. If I don’t need anything from the Lord I can allow my priorities to slip. Of course that is terrible logic on my part, because when I get lazy it makes me an easy target for the devil.

The Lord is teaching me to be faithful in every season, to be steadfast, and to prioritize my time with Him. What about you? What is God teaching you?

Live Purple – Day 1 – Choices

God choose us & the choices we make color our world

Deuteronomy 7:6 – Psalm 7:6 – 1 Peter 2:9 – Ephesians 1:4 – Ephesians 2:10

Deuteronomy 7:6 – For you are a holy people, who belong to the Lord your God. Of all the people on earth, the Lord your God has chosen you to be his own special treasure.

Psalm 65:4 – What joy for those you choose to bring near, those who live in your holy courts. What festivities await us inside your holy Temple.

1 Peter 2:9 – But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.

Ephesians 1:4 – Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes.

Ephesians 2:10  – For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

How mind-boggling is it that the creator of the Universe CHOSE us? Not only did He choose us, but he loves us and His plan is perfect. Wherever it is you find yourself today, it is not an accident. Whether you are battling through trials, enjoying the glow of the mountain top, or trudging along through the ordinary, God has a purpose for where you are at this very moment. And while you may not be able to choose the circumstances around you, you DO get to choose how you respond… and those choices will color the way you see the world. My prayer for each of us, as we walk and grow together, is that we will choose to see the world through purple lenses of positivity. Positivity… I’m practically positive I made that word up – but hey, what’s a made up word or two between friends, right?
